Summer league: round 1

The first round of the Cornwall summer league takes place this weekend, with all games to be played by the end of Sunday 17 April.

The format for the league has been amended this year to make it an open, inter-club competition. Any player at any of the five petanque clubs in Cornwall is eligible to take part as a member of his or her club's team. One club, the North Inn PC at Pendeen, is fielding two teams.

The first round sees the Coaching Inn PC of St Columb Major play the North Inn A at home, Tregony PC is away to North Inn B and the Rising Sun PC at Treween, near Altarnun, will be at home to Vogue PC from the Star Inn, St Day.

In another change to the format all matches will consist of three games of triples rather than the triples, doubles and singles sequence played in previous years.

Results here soon.
