New President of Kernow Petanque

Long-time Cornwall player Pete Lynas was elected President of Kernow Petanque by a unanimous vote of members present at the region's Annual General Meeting today. Pete is now a member of Tregony Petanque Club but he and his family were for a long time mainstays of the old Trengilly Wartha club.

Most of the current officers were re-elected to their existing posts but Graeme Kirkham takes over as Membership Secretary from Susan Williamson.

The other officers are: Robert Herrick, Vice-President; Wendy Booker, Secretary; Kate Herrick, Treasurer; Andrew Jarvis, Playing Officer; Sarah Jarvis, Youth Development Officer; Colin Booth, Publicity and Promotion Officer. The posts of Regional Umpire and Regional Coach are currently vacant.

A petanque Christmas in Cornwall

This year's festive petanque event will be the Santa Shoot melée, to be held at the Star Inn, Vogue, St Day, on Sunday 14 December.

Registration is 10-10.30, with play to start as soon as the draw for the first round has taken place.

This is an open event - everyone welcome.

The melée format means that each player is drawn with different partners in each round but carries the score from each game with them - the winners are those who have been in the most successful partnerships!

It is an ideal opportunity for new players to give the game a try in company with more experienced team-mates.

There will be a raffle and there may be mince pies. Food will be available from the Star.
