Round 4 tightens the table - but no change at the top

After round 4 of the Cornwall summer league the top three places stay unchanged, despite good wins for the teams which held fourth, fifth and sixth places at the end of the previous round.

Tregony PC lost 2-1 at home to Coaching Inn on 10 July but holds on to the number one spot with a total of eight wins from the 12 games played so far and a points difference of +29,

Still in second place with seven wins and +19, Vogue PC lost 2-1 away to North Inn A. The other Pendeen team, North Inn B, although it had a 2-1 loss away at Rising Sun PC in this round, is sticking very close behind Vogue with seven wins and +12.

North Inn A now holds fourth place with 5 wins (+9), followed by Coaching Inn on five wins (-27) and Rising Sun PC with four wins (-39).

Round 5 is to be played on or before 21 August and will see Tregony and Vogue face each other, the Rising Sun play North Inn A and Coaching Inn take on North Inn B.

Cornwall summer league - round 3

With all games now played in round 3 of the summer league Tregony PC stays in front - just! Three wins apiece for Vogue PC and the North Inn B squad put them both on six wins, one behind Tregony's seven.

In the matches played on Sunday 19 June Vogue beat Coaching Inn 3-0 and North Inn B gained the same result in their home derby against North Inn A.

Vogue's squad of Barbara Brown, Lena Daddow and Andrew Jarvis were at home to Coaching Inn's Roy Pemberton, Rob Sullivan and new player Michaela Kent, taking part in her first competition. The teams took advantage of the large marquee set up on the Star Inn terrain to keep them out of the rain (see photos on Kernow Petanque Facebook page), with the games going to Vogue 13-2, 13-10 and 13-3.

North Inn B's Ray Beresford, Colin 'Boot' Booth and Pete 'PD' Downing faced Alan Fowles, Richard Lapworth and Arnaud Ruetsch on a damp North Inn terrain, with the B's winning 13-7, 13-11, 13-7.

Full results after round 4, to be played on or before 10 July.
