EuroCup win for Tregony

Tregony P├ętanque Club came out on top in their EuroCup for Clubs match against a team from Ottery St Mary PC in Devon. The score from the five-game contest was 3-2.

Playing at home at Tregony Sports and Social Club on Sunday 21 October, Tregony won both of the triples games. In the mixed triple, Peter Lynas, Rosemary Piggin and Susan Williamson beat the Ottery line-up of Mike Pegg (President of the English Petanque Association), Marie Pegg and John Thatcher (President of Devon region and Chair of the national Umpires Commission), with a score of 13-2.

Tregony's open triple of Graeme Kirkham (Cornwall region president), Dave Piggin and Paul Rundle won 13-5 against Ottery's Peter Smith, Rose Thatcher and David West.

In the doubles games Dave Piggin and Paul Rundle beat Mike and Marie Pegg 13-7 to give Tregony an overall win. Pete Lynas and Rosemary Piggin lost 9-13 to Peter Smith and David West and Graeme Kirkham and Susan Williamson lost narrowly 11-13 to John and Rose Thatcher.

Tregony now go through to round 3 of the competion and will have an away match against a team from Great Western region.
