Winter League update

After three rounds of the Cornwall winter doubles league the top spot is held by Andrew Jarvis and Roy Pemberton, both of the Treleigh Arms Pétanque Society (TAPS), with eight wins out of nine games, 30 league points and a points difference of +50. Close behind are PD and Barney from the North Inn, Pendeen, with seven wins, 27 league points and +11.

Third and fourth places are very close: Dave and Rosemary Piggin (Tregony Pétanque Club) and Simon Penna and Pete English (TAPS) both have five wins and and 21 league points. Dave and Rosemary edge ahead with a +18 points difference compared with Simon and Pete's 0.

Fifth and sixth places are also close, with Kate Herrick and Paul Rundle (-3 points difference) edging ahead of Graeme Kirkham, Susan Williamson and Ian Johnson (-14). Both teams have four wins and 18 league points.

Four other teams are taking part. Currently in seventh place are Gordon Couch and Jock Turnham (three wins), followed by Arnaud Ruetsch and Richard Lapworth (three wins from six games), Robert Herrick and Wendy Booker (two wins) and Boot and Ray of the North Inn, Pendeen, with one win from six games.

The next round of the winter league will be played at the Star Inn, St Day, on 6 January.
