Winter League - Round 3 Surprises

Round 3 of the Cornwall Winter League produced some major changes at the top of the table, although not right at the top: Simon Penna and Rob Sullivan have not yet dropped a game and stay in first place with 9 wins and a points difference of +72.

The round was held at the Star, St Day, on Sunday 1 December, and produced a low turnout, with only 9 teams taking part.

Three wins in this round gave second place to Ray Beresford and Susan Williamson, up from fourth last month, with 7 wins and +21 points. Third place is held by Richard Lapworth and Arnaud Ruetsch, with a total of 6 wins and +9 points bringing them up from eighth place in round 2.

Andrew and Sarah Jarvis now lie fourth, down from second after the last round (5 wins, +29) and Pete PD Downing and Graeme Kirkham, in fourth place last time, go down to fifth with 5 wins and +2.

Sue Hardy and Markku Hypponen move up one place to sixth in the table, with 5 wins and -7. Pete English and Roy Pemberton slip from third in November to seventh place, with 4 wins and +9.

In eighth place, also on 4 wins but pulled down by fewer league points (based on wins plus the number of events participated in) are Anthony Frost and Rod Walker.

The date for round 4 of the Winter League will be posted shortly.
