Cornwall summer league - results

The winners of this year's Cornwall summer league competition are the team from the Treleigh Arms Petanque Society (TAPS) - Simon Penna, Terry Jones, Rob Sullivan and Roy Pemberton. They finished the season with a total of 14 wins and a points difference of +54.

In second place were 2+1 - Barbara Brown, Lena Daddow and Pete Lynas - with 13 wins and +56.

Two teams notched up 12 wins, with the Artistes (Rod Walker, Gordon Couch and Andrew Jarvis) taking third place with a +36 points difference over Tregony PC's GDR (Graeme Kirkham, Dave and Rosemary Piggin) with +24.

Fifth place went to North Inn PC players Colin 'Boot' Booth, Barney Knapp and Pete Downing, with 11 wins and +49, ahead of First Timers (Ray Beresford, Paul Rundle and Susan Williamson), also with 11 wins and +21.

The Bombardiers (Arnaud Ruetsch, Ruth Beresford, Sarah Jarvis and Richard Lapworth) took seventh place with a total of 9 wins and -21.

The Rising Sun PC's Rae, Andy, Iain and Katherine Argent were in eighth place with seven wins (-33), with Rams - Wendy Booker, Peter Gliddon, Robert and Kate Herrick - also on seven wins but with a points difference of -34, 

Talent Spotters (George Evans, James Byers and Terry Downes) - unable to play all their matches because of ill health - took tenth place with two wins.

The captain's competition was narrowly won by Simon Penna, with four wins and +24, ahead of Andrew Jarvis with four wins and +20.

The Cornwall winter league is an open competition and begins on Sunday 5 October.
