Close result for Cornwall doubles

Eight teams contested the Cornwall doubles competition at the Star Inn, St Day, on 15 May, playing six rounds in warm sunshine.

Three teams ended on five wins, with a points difference of +32 giving the top place to Simon Penna and Rob Sullivan of Coaching Inn PC, St Columb Major. Colin 'Boot' Booth (North Inn PC, Pendeen) and Graeme Kirkham (Tregony PC), narrowly behind on +29, took second.

Third place - based on a points difference of +15 - went to Ray Beresford (North Inn) and Susan Williamson (Tregony).

Each of the top three lost a game to one of the others: Ray and Susan lost to Simon and Rob (4-13), who lost to Boot and Graeme (2-13), who lost to Ray and Susan (10-13).

Another Coaching Inn team took fourth place: Dion Beechey and Roy Pemberton had three wins and +4.
