Mince pies . . . and drizzle

The Santa Shoot melée brought another petanque year in Cornwall to a close. And like several other competitions during the past 52 weeks it was good fun and good company, but ended up a bit damp!

Twelve players turned out on Sunday 17  December to play four rounds of timed games at the Star Inn, St Day. Five finished the contest with three wins. Top scorer was Mike Turnham with a points difference of +19, followed closely by Mark Hypponen with +16.

In third place was Kernow President Pete Lynas with +10.

Time to ponder the successes (and otherwise) of the year and remember to include among the New Year's resolutions: practice, practice, practice!

The next event will be another in the winter doubles series, on 14 January - look out for details here.
